How It Works

Epithelial Removal: After numbing drops, we gently remove the thin outer layer of your cornea using an alcohol solution or specialized brush. This takes only seconds and is completely painless.

Laser Reshaping: The excimer laser precisely reshapes your cornea to correct your prescription. Advanced eye tracking ensures accurate treatment even if your eye moves slightly.

Protective Contact Lens: A bandage contact lens is placed on your eye to protect it and enhance comfort while the epithelium regenerates over 3-5 days.

Natural Healing: Your epithelium naturally regrows and smooths out. The bandage lens is removed after a few days, and vision continues to improve over the following weeks.

Days 1-3: Initial healing with some discomfort, light sensitivity, and tearing. Use prescribed drops and rest. Vision will be blurry. Days 4-5: Bandage contact lens is removed. Vision begins to clear as the epithelium finishes healing. Week 2-4: Vision continues to sharpen. Most patients achieve functional vision for work and daily activities. Month 3+: Vision stabilizes and reaches its best level. Most patients achieve 20/20 or better vision.

PRK Streamlight has an excellent safety profile. Temporary discomfort during the first few days is normal. Vision takes longer to stabilize compared to LASIK (3-4 weeks vs. 24 hours).
